The place is located in the beautiful Whanganui River Valley (I won’t tell you the name, it’s a secret) and it’s an “Organic Farm” owned by Annette and John. Everything in the place is thought to impact the surroundings as less as possible, from the home-grown food (the breakfast was legendary) to the house builted with recicled and natural material, from the wood-stove to the low energy lighting (they have a solar panel system). We stayed at the Brewery Cottage, a small villa built with the intention to brewer some beer, but ended up to be a guest house. The stay was awesome, very relaxing and refreshing. Except for when we had to chop quite a lot of wood to be used for the bbq, for the fireplace and for the bath… yes, old style bath which took probably two hours to be completely heated, but was well worth it.

The Valley offer also a very spectacular view and you can spend you time on the numerous tracks or doing a 3 hours Canoing in the river. for lack of time we didn’t manage to do any of that (except some little walk surrounding the farm) but that to me seems another pretty good excuse to go back there quite soon! Early wake up, 5.20am. Beautiful morning. We sailed off at 7am with coffee and rum to wake us up. and at 7.30 the first part of the trip was already over. The boat had others plans for the morning and decided to fell apart… not to bad as we ended up having our second (or third in some cases) breakfast at the pub while waiting for the boat to be repaired. Beer and fries, not too bad to be only 10.30am, usually at this time I’m still digesting my cappuccino.

We sailed off (did I already said that?) and were back on business by noon, and this time everything worked as planned. 8 hours of fishing, and even though I only had a tiny tiny fish that was released straight away, it was a LONG AWESOME FUNNY day… and the Rum helped a lot! The Best catch of the day was from Daniele with a 6kg Snapper. Good work! Worth a mention a good catch from Raffaele (sorry I don’t remember the fish) and a Barracuda caught from Fillippo, that ended up being the bait for the whole afternoon (the barracuda I mean, not Filippo).

Some of the fish went straight on the BBQ on the boat… it can’t go fresher than this! And here we go, the day was gone, and we head back to our misses waiting for us for a good dinner based on Fish Sandwich. Thanks a lot guys, we should do it again… and congratulation to Filippo who is gonna get married on Saturday yeahhhh… welcome in the club! Photo Gallery

Second day of training for the 7km run Around the bay in Wellington… Done! Very well guys, a lot of new entry and a lot of fun! Less than one month to go for the run… plenty of time for training :)

The run is also an opportunity to rise founds to help  Heart Foundation continue its vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources. Here we are, finally used one of the wedding gift we received a while ago. A beautiful week end to be spent amongs the wineyards in Martinboroug. Wine, food, massage, cycling and awesome atmosphere… what else can we ask? Gallery

Two days spend cycling along the roads of Martinborough stopping fmartinboroughEscape04or tasting some of the best wines of the region, together with a tasting of Olive Oil (when of the oldest in New Zeland… 15 years :-) ) and some great food. Of course the Holiday was also about resting and relaxing, and what’s better than an hour massage for me and my wife? Or a private Hot Tub accompanied with Champagne martinboroughEscape02and Chocolate? Not much I would say, that’s why this two days was totally awesome :)

Thanks to all my friend who contributed to this gift… it was very much appreciated!
